At Open Door, We Believe:

Concerning the Scriptures:
We believe that the Old and New Testament Scriptures as originally written are the inspired, inerrant and infallible Word of God both equally and fully in all parts. We believe these Scriptures are authoritative and constitute the only infallible rule of faith and practice. We believe in the normal, literal and consistent interpretation of the Scriptures and a dispensational understanding of God’s progressive revelation. We believe the KJV to be an excellent translation, but do not support the “KJV only” movement.

Concerning God the Son:
We believe the Lord Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He is fully God and fully man yet without sin. He voluntarily laid down His life on the cross as a substitute to make unlimited atonement for the sins of the whole world. Therefore, His death was voluntary, vicarious, substitutionary, redemptive and propitiatory. We believe He rose literally from the dead on the third day (confirming the efficacy and atoning value of His finished work) and forty days later He ascended bodily into heaven where He is seated at the right hand of the Father and functions until His coming as the Advocate and Intercessor of His church.

Concerning salvation:
We believe the Scriptures teach the salvation of sinners is divinely initiated, wholly by grace, and accomplished only through the shed blood of the Son of God; that it is wholly apart from human merit or good works and comes only through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. We believe that in order to be saved the sinner must be born again, being regenerated by the Holy Spirit through faith in God’s Word, and that the believer who has exercised faith in the Lord Jesus Christ is completely justified and possesses a salvation which is eternally secure. We believe that repentance is the essential attitude toward sin which leads a sinner to saving faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ.

This abbreviated statement of faith does not exhaust the extent of our faith. The Bible itself is the sole and final source of all that we believe. For more information we encourage you to talk to someone on our pastoral staff.
